I think he asked me, because in "another life" I had managed several large
medical record departments. I don't think he is knowledgeable enough about
the equipment to change anything. He did not think about the "redictated"
thingy at all.

I don't get why he was asking you about it, if it was something HE was
going to do. Why didn't he just do it? If your digital system
automatically records it, then I am surprised that he didn't just try
to wipe the dates off, or as I suggested, put redictated, like it had
been done and was lost.
