I think the worst case scenario would be a doctor being sued and realizes the note he dictated to cover the patient's care for the treatment involved has a lot of loopholes - or that he forgot to dictate it at all - so he's trying to cover his ass.

How many times have I heard stated here that he who writes the check makes the rules. If I want to keep my job and the doctor tells me he doesn't care how a certain word is spelled, HE wants to spell it his way, I'm going to comply. Now in most circumstances I wouldn't stay working for someone like that long.

Phyllis, you are making a big leap here. He can still get reimbursed
and it has nothing to do with the dates. He has a certain amount of
time to get the procedure billed. The date on the report has nothing to
do with it. He is probably doing this because he thinks it makes him
look bad. Stuff happens. Insurance companies know that. If they
hadn't received charges for other parts of the procedure, hospital,
clinic, lab, there might be some question that it was in fact done, but
I doubt that is the case here.
