Oh, I agree on that. I agree it should be allowed (despite whatever deals Mormon church made with US Govt in past), but it should not be at a fiscal advantage, i.e., all wives and children covered, welfare for family etc. I guess I'd see no problem with insurance coverage on plans where as it is spouses and children are covered at additional expense to employee - although I dare say to be fair in these cases the set up might need to be ammended.

Anyone else watching this new series. I haven't missed it yet. Find it quite interesting. Seems like polygamy is getting a lot of press lately. I think it was Boston Legal had a case about it - the polygamist lost but the DA basically agreed to drop charges if they divorced (and lived in "sin.")
Far as I am concerned, as long as all parties are of legal age and it can be ascertained there is no coercion, there are far more serious "crimes" to prosecute.
I agree that there are far more serious crimes, but there are a boat load of problems with polygamy. If the husband's employer provides family coverage insurance, would they have to provide it for the multiple wives and/or children? How about if there is no employer and the family is on welfare? Just a few things off the top of my head.
