Yes, it is a DB9 adapter. When I plug in the adapter, it prompts as new
hardware found on the system Then it searches and tells me it could not
be installed properly. I've tried installing/uninstalling/installing and
nothing changes. I need to either get this to work or I need to find
another pedal ASAP. This is driving me bonkers.

Maureen, I don't think this will help, since I can't say why it happens, but
I have a USB wireless adapter that does the exact same thing. Periodically
it will just decide the thing is new hardware, search for installation
files, say it can't find them, and shut me down. Sometimes taking the
device out and putting it in again resets it, but even my guru hubby can't
figure it out, so if someone here has the answer, I'd sure like to hear it!
