I do that with my current degree :-)

This is my masters-leading-to-doctorate course. I chose not to get my
masters in mental health counseling for lots of reasons, not the least of
which was the length of time it takes to get licensed (5 years, and I'm
old). I can continue doing D&A counseling without further education. Since
I *love* making up the rules :-), I decided to take the public
administration track.

I have the opportunity to tweak my master's program. I can go into
healthcare facility mgmt or I can lean into homeland security policy....
