Re: Foot pedal issue HELP!!

Maureen,

I'm not sure if this will help or not but I have the Infinity foot pedal with a USB connection. When I connected it with Express Scribe I had to go to "Settings", then "control", then under the port I selected VEC pedals USB and selected 3 pedals. I then clicked on the foot pedal control setup wizard. Express Scribe then automatically downloaded something (can't remember what it was called) and then my foot pedal worked. I know you said you got the foot pedal with a serial port but that you added an adapter so I thought maybe this would work for you. If this won't work on your desktop you could try it on your laptop since you did get the driver installed there.

Also, did you try hooking the foot pedal up to the serial port? On the "control" setting there are different com ports for serial pedals. Did you try all of them?

On another note, I do not normally use Express Scribe for transcribing. I purchased Bytescribe, which I really like. I also have the Wav pedal software that came with my Infinity foot pedal. That program works well, too, although the time shows in seconds only and I prefer the Bytescribe time in minutes and seconds.

Hope this helps somewhat.

Kathy

I purchased an Infinity foot pedal to work with Express scribe. I ordered the serial port rather than the USB port which may be my issue. I have a Sony all-in-one desktop with only USB ports and I use a LAN docking station to add my printer (serial port not USB) and also to utilize it as a USB hub. I figured I had the extra available serial port on the docking station so I might as well just go serial port connection.

Anyway, I have Express Scribe on my computer and laptop. I connected the foot pedal, but the computer does not recognize the foot pedal and when I try all the various options in ES, it still wont work. It was recommended that I make sure I have a gaming driver thing installed and when I try to do that I get an error message that says "Your gameport or gameport drivers are not properly configured. Please consult the device manager." So I fiddled around with that for a couple of hours still with no solution.

So I broke down and ran to RadioShack and got the serial to USB adapter that was recommended. When I try to install the driver on my desktop, I get a Windows error message saying that the installation was interrupted and do I want to report/not report the incident. It will not let me install the driver to recognize the USB adapter.

Finally I figure, fine I'll try my laptop and if need be I can run ES on the laptop and type on my desktop. It lets me install the driver for the adapter as demonstrated in the installation guide, but it still wont work in Express Scribe :(

I'm at wits end here. Any ideas?

Maureen
