Re: OT: hello Mr Baggage Claim

WOW that is amazing story - what are the odds.

My daughter's BF flew to Greenland last August. Upon arrival they told him
his luggage was lost and they *thought* it might have gone to Kuwait. So at
the end of September he sits down with the airline who first offered $200 to
replace his luggage, and gave them a detailed list of what he lost. He's a
photographer and had some equipment in the luggage. They ended up agreeing
on $1200 for his lost items, hardship, etc. In January, BF came home from
work to find a message on his machine from a friend he used to live with in
Baltimore. One of their crowd is serving in the military and when a bunch
of bags sat unclaimed on one delivery to the military, it was this guy's
responsibility to handle them. He noted the name on the bag and wondered if
it was his friend from back home, who he'd not seen in many years. He has
no current address or phone number on the luggage. So military friend calls
Baltimore friend and gets BF's current address.

It took nearly 6 months for the bag to return to its owner. He kept trying
to reach someone at the airline to return the funds he'd been given. He
kept getting the run-around in New Delhi. He finally figured his "trouble"
was well worth $1200.

That's probalby where your bag is too - India!

OK! It has finally happened.

Anyone been traveling lately and had them lose your bag? Well I have

had

mine lost once in the past but got in last night and no bag got in with

me.

Soooooo....went to call and check on the bag today and no bag of course

but

the number they had on the claim was an 800 number. They used to put

the

local numbers. Those were the days.

One airline, you could not talk to a person at all. You got only the
computer.

What happened was my United flight was canceled due to it never showed

up

because of mechanical problems so they rerouted me on US Airways, went

from

Harrisburg (where no one was at the airport) to Philly and then home. I
would call it a simple route.

Anyhow, bag did not show. This morning the "computer" said bag not

found.

So, not accepting that, I tried to find a person.

I called and spoke to airport security and TOLD them to go and find my

bag

that if I could not talk to a person that I wanted them to go find it.

They

would not give any local numbers.

So, being as I was switched to another airline, I called them. They

also

had that recording. What you do is remain silent. Then it says it does

not

understand you. Then it says that it will send you to a customer

service

rep. Zero will not get you there. The rep said his name was Zack with

an

American last name but ahhh.....obviously he was not with an American
accent. I called him Zack. I said Zack, where are you located. He
hesitated and then he told me he was in New Delhi India.

OK. Soooo, now the baggage claims are located in New Delhi?

I guess we had all better start looking for homes in New Delhi.

One thing though. I will admit that he was more helpful than the people

in

airport security locally.

It's a darned shame.
