THis guy was Muslim? Man i'd have trouble feeling safe in that classroom!

Yes, he was. He came from Jordan on some sort of temporary visa, just to
teach for that one semester at the university, and that one law class as
well. We thought we were going to learn about the legal systems in Muslim
countries. We discovered that law and religion are one and the same, and
the application of logic or evolving human understanding is not only
discouraged; it's outright forbidden in most circles.

I felt that through education I might lose some of my bias. Education, in
this case, reinforced and even doubled my bias.

And this is different from Christianity how? It's black and white

Well, a militant Christian would still allow a person free choice. The
militant Muslim would not.

Exactly. Possibly the most disturbing thing I learned in my "Islamic
law" (a misnomer) class was that a person who publicly states he has
chosen another religion is subject to death. And while the professor did
at least voice some understanding of why some of the things he told us
would be disturbing, that was not one of them. That one, he seemed to
think, was a no-brainer and shouldn't even be questioned.
