Mountain, thanks again for the very helpful information.
I'm on a quest to purchase a new computer this year, and I am leaning
towards a Dell. I will definitely do a Google search for coupons.
Every little bit helps.
Sometimes when I have more than two or three applications open on my
current computer, the fan comes on in my computer generating a lot of
noise AND slowing it down. I did not realize that my 512MB SyncDRAM
was the culprit, and I am very much looking forward to purchasing a new
computer with MORE memory.
I do need a 3-1/2-inch floppy drive, and Dell provides an opportunity
to build one's own computer. Most newer computers don't have the
3-1/2-inch floppies anymore, but I need one. I'm not sure what the "S"
stands for in the Windows "XPS" operating system. I also desire a DOS
prompt, found in the Accessories with Windows XP.
This has truly been a very informative thread for me personally.
Thanks to all! :>)
