Re: Book recommendations

Just goes to show difference in taste. A book has to be believable to me,
and that one just wasn't! Surviving a fall out of a helicopter from that
height! Really...... I like the book suggestions, though. I read at night
before going to bed as it gets my mind off everything and I sleep better, so
I go through books like crazy and have this awful thing that I have to
finish a book, no matter how bad it is (One exception, to this day I have
NEVER finished Alice in Wonderland--have started it a few times). I like a
good mystery, medical novels, and Clive Cussler! I loved James
Michener--nobody writes like him--I miss him!

This one is pretty good. It's the only one other than the DaVinci Code
that was okay. The other two books by him I thought were pretty bad.
This one is no DaVinci Code, but its entertaining. I think maybe he
should rest on his laurels. He'd have to go some to beat that.

If you like Dan Brown, try "Digital Fortress" It was a quick read, a
mystery, lots of NSA information (pertinent now since the NSA has been

I'm one of those people who really only reads while on vacation. I'm
looking for a book to take to Italy -- but strictly for reading on the
plane. My criteria: Fiction, not too heavy subject matter,
page-turner that grabs you on page 1 and doesn't let go, and nothing
over 300 pages or so. (My friend and I are gonna swap books, so I
need something I can read from start to finish pretty quickly.) I
loved Da Vinci Code (strictly as a mystery novel) and that would be an
example of the kind of engrossing plot I like. I've read all the
Patricia Cornwells and not much else (such as Janet Evanovich,
Kellerman, etc.). How 'bout it, you readers? Otherwise, I'm gonna
go to Barnes & Noble this afternoon and pick the brains of the people
who work there.
