Re: Life and Times of, well, US!

Okay, Judith, I'll bite (and by the way, if you're pompous or condescending,
you've sure kept it hidden from me!):

BIRTHDATE: March 21

AGE: 40

EYE COLOR: Brown

HAIR COLOR: Dark brown with about 50 grays covered courtesy of L'Oreal,
because I'm worth it.

HAIR STYLE: Wouldn't call it a style, really, shoulder-length layered
mess.

HEIGHT: 5'3"

WEIGHT: Er, none-ya, let's just say "headed downward."

FAVORITES

COLORS: Cobalt blue

FOOD: Steak, anything with alfredo sauce

DRINK: Soft drinks: Pepsi, but now I drink mostly Fresca; hard stuff:
margaritas and girly frou-frou drinks, preferably with vodka, but only
rarely!

MUSIC: Anything and everything, most eclectic MP3 files you ever saw. No
gangsta rap or opera, though.

MODE OF TRANSPORTATION: 2004 Hyundai Sonata; just changed my vanity plate
from an MT reference to a lawyer reference. :)

SMOKES? Never!

HOBBIES: I'd almost forgotten what they were the past few years, but I'm
rediscovering that they are music (play piano and still working on
learning fiddle/violin), needlework (mostly cross-stitch or crochet),
reading (mostly mysteries), certain television programs and movies, and
decorating (about to redo my office in Asian!)

SPORTS: Um...not very coordinated. I used to like gymnastics, and I
suppose I'll be forced to take up golf in my new career. LOL

HOW DO I SPEND A RAINY DAY: Until recently, driving on the interstate and
going to class. Now I would just lie around listening and hoping for a
really good thunderstorm - those are the BEST.

BACKGROUND: Scotch, Irish and Cherokee.

HOMETOWN: Southern tip of West by-golly Virginia.

TYPE OF CHILDHOOD: Stable and happy with few exceptions; my daddy built
me a playhouse and a great jungle gym, so my house was the "Kool-Aid"
house where all the kids played. Lived in the same house until I was 18.
Loved school more than anything, took piano lessons, tormented my little
brother - the usual.

EDUCATION: Graduated high school in 1983, took the next 20 years to get a
bachelor's degree in criminal justice in 2003, and just graduated from
Washington and Lee University School of Law with J.D. a week ago!

OCCUPATION: Medical transcriptionist, research paralegal, mom, hoping to
be attorney soon.

ORGANIZATIONS: American Bar Association, no others at the moment -
haven't had time!

ACHIEVEMENTS: Raised a 19-year-old who hasn't had any major stumbles yet;
married 11 years this Friday (that took a couple of tries to get it
right); survived law school.

DISEASES/HANDICAPS: No attention span whatsoever (I should be studying
for the bar right now!)

FAMILY

MOTHER: Role model; career woman before that was cool; very strong
personality; loves to travel. Raised 2 children mostly by herself.
Striking resemblance to Carol Burnett in the 1970s.

FATHER: Coal miner; built most of the house I grew up in; drank a lot so
my mother divorced him when I was 8; died at 53 of an MI. Striking
resemblance to Roy Clark. I look just like him, except my boobs are
bigger. :)

SIBLINGS: One brother, 32; married a woman who thought "forsaking all
others" included his family, so I don't hear from him any more. One
half-brother, 48; lives in another state.

TRAITS: Stubborn but hate conflict; dark and sarcastic sense of humor;
few close friends but very loyal to them.

GREATEST FEAR(S): Being squashed by a tractor trailer on the interstate.

MOST AT EASE WHEN: At home or riding on a roller coaster. :)

MOST ILL AT EASE WHEN: Confronting personal conflict (although I love the
conflict of a courtroom)

SOFT SPOT: Babies, animals, people who suffer abuse.

OPTIMIST OR PESSIMIST? Optimist, definitely.

INTROVERT OR EXTROVERT? Can be either, depending on the circumstance.

MOTIVATIONS: Personal fulfillment, achievement, love of family and
friends. Definitely NOT money, as I doubt now I'll ever have any!

SKILLED AT: Transcription, music (though I'm rusty, but I'll get back in
practice), games shows/puzzles/trivia, legal writing.

UNSKILLED AT: Sports, sports, sports. Sciences.

HABITS: No smoking or (much) drinking. I chew my lip! I used to bite my
nails. I eat when I'm nervous.

REGIONAL DIALECT: Southern with a touch of hillbilly creeping in if I'm
in the area.

EMOTIONAL STABILITY: Depends on who you ask and what day of the month it
is.

ATTITUDES/PREJUDICES: Racial prejudice makes me want to vomit. Very
prejudiced against mean, abusive, and/or judgmental people, though.

MARRIED/DIVORCED/SINGLE: I've been all 3, but I'm married now and looking
to stay that way.

CHILDREN? One son, 19, blond and blue-eyed, spit and image of his daddy,
looks nothing like me.

HOW DO I REACT IN A CRISIS? Depends on the crisis. Confrontation: avoid
at all costs, but I'm working on it. Something that needs to be done
ASAP: That's when I'm best able to get it done, at the last minute.
Tragedy or injury: I go into practical mode and try to take care of
things.

HOW DO I FACE PROBLEMS? By trying to fix them, even if they aren't
fixable.

HOW DO I REACT TO CHANGE? Apparently, very well, since I keep creating
it! LOL
