Okay, I got asked a question(s) today and I am not 100% sure of my
answer
because I can honestly see both sides (what a curse sometimes).
Anyway, I
thought I would throw this out there for you all.
How would you feel if the youth pastor at your church were dating the
sigle
mother of one of the youth in his youth group? Appropriate? Not
appropriate?? Why?
I don't see a problem with this.
Also....what if this were the 3rd girlfriend this same youth pastor
had
within a 1.5-year period and the 2nd girlfriend was also a member of
the
congregation?
Are we talking about living together or just dating? I dated 5 guys in
a year when I was in college, with no overlap. These things happen.
Along thos esame lines - Is it appropriate for a single pastor to date
members of the congregation of the church where he is employed?
Again, I don't have a problem with this.
The church I grew up in had a somewhat related situation. We had a
young assistant pastor who divorced while working at our church. The
resident busybodies of the church decided to notify the entire
congregation about the whole situation; what the problems were, how much
time and money the pastor and his wife had spent on counseling, stuff
that was none of their business. Pastor M almost left after that but
decided to stick around because he enjoyed what he was doing; most of
his job was as our youth minister. About a year later he started dating
a young woman in the congregation, and they eventually married. He left
this church when it was decided that he wasn't going to be promoted when
the head pastor retired; seems that these same busybodies thought that
because of his personal life he wasn't good enough to run the show. Too
bad; he was good and brought an energy to the services that was lacking.
