BIRTHDATE:
06/26/1964
AGE:
41
EYE COLOR:
Blue
HAIR COLOR:
Mousy blond/sandy brown. Gray is beginning to creep in, though...
HAIR STYLE:
Around shoulder length, a little ratty-looking because I'm trying to grow out a really short, layered cut.
HEIGHT:
5'1-1/2" (we short people always count those half inches!!)
WEIGHT:
Too much, but working on it.
FAVORITES
COLORS:
Forest green and various shades of blue
FOOD:
Oh geez, that's what got me into the weight problem...I like EVERYTHING!! <G>
DRINK:
Margaritas! (Okay, usually regular Coke, but margaritas are more fun.)
MUSIC:
Love classic rock best but enjoy just about every kind of music. I don't understand the draw of rap, but I have 2 young adult daughters and am trying...
MODE OF TRANSPORTATION:
1988 Toyota Corolla All-Trac (that 4-WD sure comes in handy sometimes)
SMOKES?
Sigh...yes...
HOBBIES:
Reading, computer graphics, gardening, birdwatching, jigsaw puzzles, word games.
SPORTS:
Don't play any but enjoy watching baseball and basketball.
HOW DO I SPEND A RAINY DAY
Prefer to spend it curled up with a book. In reality, usually working.
BACKGROUND
HOMETOWN:
Born in Ohio but spent more years in Bisbee, AZ and am more inclined to claim that as my hometown. (BTW, the Stephen King movie "Desperation", which is on ABC tonight, was filmed on location in Bisbee and Tucson, if anybody's interested! <G>)
TYPE OF CHILDHOOD:
Pretty normal. Nothing particularly stellar or traumatic to report. Great parents, annoying little sister who became my very good friend later in life.
EDUCATION:
Some college but didn't know what I wanted to be when I grew up when the opportunity was there so didn't make the most of it.
OCCUPATION:
Three guesses and the first two don't count... MT!!! Have also been a lab/x-ray tech in my previous life.
ORGANIZATIONS:
None.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
Raising two great girls, finally packing up what would fit in my car, taking my kids and leaving an abusive marriage, then proving to myself that I could stand on my own. More achievements to come, I hope!!
DISEASES/HANDICAPS:
None.
FAMILY
MOTHER:
Alive and well. My best friend.
FATHER:
Alive and well, thank God, after a close call a couple of years ago. Another great friend and advisor.
SIBLINGS:
The aforementioned bratty little sister, who turned out to be a pretty cool person, actually.
TRAITS:
Somewhat introverted. Like to be around groups of people but tend to stay on the sidelines. My friends refer to me as dependable and strong, but I don't see the latter. I'm a good listener and definitely a caretaker.
GREATEST FEAR(S):
Those middle-of-the night phone calls, saying something has happened to someone I love. In everyday life, I go to any and all lengths to avoid confrontation. Too much, sometimes.
MOST AT EASE WHEN:
With small groups of people I know and feel accepted by, family or close friends.
MOST ILL AT EASE WHEN:
Being in a group of people I don't know and don't have much in common with. I end up feeling awkward and clumsy and can't think of anything to say.
SOFT SPOT:
People in crisis and children. I can't say no to either.
OPTIMIST OR PESSIMIST?
Optimist. My kids sometimes tell me I wear rose-colored glasses. I have a hard time conceiving that real evil exists, even though I know better.
INTROVERT OR EXTROVERT?
The introvert is what shows. Inside, though, I sing and dance on tables... <G>
MOTIVATIONS:
Having to learn something new for work will rejuvenate my interest when I'm getting stale and bored. Motivation at home is creating a peaceful, comfortable haven.
SKILLED AT:
Gardening, typing, etc. Listening to people who need to talk, particularly teenagers seem drawn to and comfortable with me. (Who'da guessed? I have no idea why.)
UNSKILLED AT:
Being sophisticated and graceful, things I'd like to be but ain't gonna happen.
HABITS:
Smoking. :-(
REGIONAL DIALECT:
None.
EMOTIONAL STABILITY:
Pretty stable, for the most part. Have been clinically depressed in the past, but 4 years of Zoloft and some major life changes made all the difference.
ATTITUDES/PREJUDICES:
Ignorance and intolerance make me crawly.
MARRIED/DIVORCED/SINGLE:
Widowed.
CHILDREN?
Two terrific daughters and a gorgeous grandson.
HOW DO I REACT IN A CRISIS?
Usually go cold and clinical during the actual crisis, fall apart later.
HOW DO I FACE PROBLEMS?
Try to hide from them until I remember how much happier my world is when I just DEAL WITH things!! If only sleeping would make problems would go away...
HOW DO I REACT TO CHANGE?
I resist it at first and then adapt pretty well. God knows it takes a crowbar to force me into change, and He seems to apply it often!
