I also transcribe tons of podiatry. One other complication is a complication
concerning the hardware, and may necessitate hardware removal at some point
in the future. Most of my DPM's patients have done quite well especially the
bunions that were painful and operated more than the bunions operated on
more for cosmetic reasons.

As far as I can tell from the docs I do, the surgeries are generally
very sucessful, and recovery time is not long at all. Patients are
usually dismissed in a surgical shoe, partial weight-bearing. I don't
know how long it is before they're back in regular shoe gear, but I
gather it's just a matter of 2-3 weeks. Some patients do have a
tendancy for repeat bunion deformity, but that's not the doctor's
fault, and I've never heard of a repeat surgery years later being
denied.
