If you're going to excuse her actions to some degree because of her
brainwashing, then we also need to excuse her husband's actions. He was
indoctrinated into his religious beliefs just as she was.

It is the society we live in that dictates what is acceptable and what is
not. Being indoctrinated by a cult does not excuse us from doing the right
thing, but if you're going to excuse her choices because of her twisted
beliefs, then you also have to excuse his.
