at the very least horribly, horribly negligent. Even if she had
killed herself and not the children, there she was alone with the
children, and they would have been damaged by that as well, and then
left alone with her dead body aftewards.
What legal grounds would he have for legally keeping his wife, with who he
shared a home with his children, from being alone with the child, though?
Whether it was irresponsible or not, I personally do not think he should be
legally responsible. Whether she had attempted suicide or not, was there
any documentation that she had ever harmed anyone else? I mean, sometimes
people just snap. Sometimes they kill themselves, sometimes they kill
others. It does not mean that their spouse should be responsible. Yes,
she was sick, very sick. Yes, he knew it. But...what legally could have
been done to keep her from being alone with the children, especially if she
had never harmed them or anyone else before? Hindsight is 20/20 and he
probably wishes he had not left them alone with her now but until something
happens, unfortunately most people do not think or believe it will happen
to them. My mother never believed my brother would die in our own bathroom
but that does not make her negligent, or me or anyone else. I believe he
knew she was fragile and unstable. I don't believe he ever fathomed that
she would kill their children and that is why I do not think he should be
legally responsible for any of it.
