Re: OT sort of: carbonation and joints

LOL! Another case of "it just slipped in".

Well, I think I'll wait until I have my first stone (don't say anything,
Sandi! LOL) *then* I'll stop the tea.

Per my urologist, tea can cause kidney stones ... :-/

Our conversation went like this:

He: You should avoid tea because it can cause kidney stones.
Me: Iced tea or hot tea?
He: Both.
Me: Decaf too?
He: Yes.
Me: <grasping at straws> How about instant tea?
He: ALL TEA. AVOID IT!

I TRY to avoid it, but sometimes it just slips into my mouth.

THere are actually lots of sites that share the info but here's one
blurb:
8) Carbon dioxide contributes to osteoporosis.
Avoid carbonated water and soda. A carbonated beer is a double whammy of
both alcohol and carbon dioxide. Internal acid rain is the name of that
game.

The appropriate functioning of carbon dioxide is marvelous protection
for
the ballooning puffer fish, but it is the cause of many of the diseases
of
human beings, especially the acidic diseases of excessive or pseudo
anabolism. The so-called "pigments of detrition," e.g., insoluble
lipofuscin, ceroid, and amyloid "aging" pigments, are cellular garbage
and
toxic waste held firmly in place by carbonation pressurization.
Lipofuscin,
amyloid, and ceroid contamination indicates that the fatty neuron
structure
of the brain is oxidizing. This cytotoxic sludge is also a major insult
to
the liver (hence, the name "liver spots).

A friend of mine has bad knees and
someone she knows told her to stop
drinking carbonated beverages because
they suck the calcium out of your body.
I've never heard of this. Do you
think it's BS?
