Thanks for that tip, Ed. It had worked for me years ago, and I totally
forgot about it. Just today, I have discovered that a ton of ants have made
my kitchen their home. It's driving me nuts because there's simply no food
there, either laying around or in the cabinets! Perhaps they're waiting for
me to go food shopping so they can have first dibs on the good stuff.

Even with Raid Ant Bait here on my desk and absolutely no food ever in
the office, I still see them periodically wandering across the screen
of my laptop.
In the library where the dry cat food is set out in containers, ants
march out in a long line to feed on the food. At least the linoleum
under the dishes smells nice now after spraying lemon-scented Lysol all
around it. Honestly, I'm really a gently person, but I thoroughly
enjoyed watching those ants being covered in yellow liquid. Stopped
them in their little tracks, it did.
I do wish my cats would acquire a taste for bugs other than spiders. I
like spiders. I hate ants.

sprinkled where ants like to come in tends to keep them out. You might
want to check and make sure your cats won't be bothered by it, though.
My dog isn't but I have no idea about cats. What a shame they eat the
spiders though, because the spiders would help control the ants. Maybe
you could get a pet anteater?

What we have found that works really well and is non-toxic is a fine
like talcum powder.had
Ants will not cross a line of fine powder.
When we go camping or picknicking, we lay a circle of powder around our
eating area and the tires and jacks of our 5th wheel camper. Have never
any problem with ants since we learned that trick. It also works verywell
at home. We find that whenever it gets rainy here, the ants want to comein
out of the rain.a
The ants I'm talking about are those tiny little grease ants. We do have
fire ants and larger black ants here also, but they have never really been
problem. I would think that the fine powder trick would work for themalso.
