Re: Outsourcing surgeries

I did my traveling in my youth, I guess. Been to Europe twice. Lived there for several ones on one of those occasions. I no longer have any need or desire to be anywhere but home - here or in Virginia.

I've come to view flying as a necessary evil to get me to the places I

in big trouble! (Of course, your place sounds pretty beautiful, but I
still don't think I'd be happy in one place forever!)

Even if I were willing to risk it - I don't fly. Period!

A friend got a complete physical in Bangkok, Thailand, including EKG,
all lab work and a binder with written reports of all results, in what
he described as the most high-tech, immaculate facility he's ever been
in, for $250, I believe. He also went there to have a dental implant
done, and the cost, including a return trip for the permanent implant,
was far cheaper than what it would've cost him to get it done here.
Again, he was completely impressed with the facilities and the
practitioners and has had no ill effects, now 6 months later.

I used to get dental care in Mexico, including root canals. As long as you're careful and go with trustworthy recommendations, the care is just as good as the care here, for about half the price.

I might get drugs there, but I'd be dubious about trusting any medical care. Seen a few pieces on results of people going outside of country for say plastic surgery with disasterous results.
