((what the heck are all these
Americans doing there, and now on TV, being rescued by helicopters,
planes and ships, are mad that they have to pay for passage so the
government has waived it. I guess I just don't understand... ))

Same here, Kath. I heard one person being interviewed saying the slow
reaction of the government was as bad as that right after Katrina. Say
what?

These Americans, by their own choice, are in a foreign land. Yet, they
expect the government to come to their rescue and also do it for free.
I can understand government workers expecting this since they are there
doing a job, but the others?

Although I do feel sorry for the tourists trapped in a war zone,
particularly the small children, who brings a child into a known
unstable area of the world, then complains about the officials who are
doing their best to get them out of danger? Just Google on wars in the
Middle East to see what I mean.

When griping about their rescue, maybe they should remember TANSSAAFL,
or "there
ain't no such thing as a free lunch" and be thankful our government
cares about them instead of bitching.

And then if we just left our people over there at their own devices, our
government would be mean and evil for doing that. It's a no-win situation,
I guess.

I for one am glad that the United States is willing to rescue its citizens
who find themselves trapped due to an unexpectedly violent conflict.
