Re: Working at Home

All of my office experiences were pretty much mundane with really good
working conditions. I started working at home in 1992 when my mother came to
live with me after the sudden death of my father. Subsequently she suffered
several serious medical events and ultimately died of a very rare form of
leukemia in 2002. Three days after the funeral I began babysitting my
3-month-old grandson so my DIL could return to work parttime. After this, I
began babysitting my grandson's new sister. They are ages 4 and 2 now. My
DIL may be able to quit working for a bit until the children go to grade
school. Anyhow, what I miss about working out of the home, is the ability to
shut the door, leave, know that there is another shift (s) after me/before
me, and to be able to actually go home, relax, plan time, and not have
clients calling at all times of the day and evening. Even if I let the
answering machine take the call (s), I KNOW they are there.

LOL. I worked in the "office" environment for many years. About 21 years
ago I got fed up being supervised by an idiot who actually transcribed
"subarachnoid hemorrhoids". I could *never* go back to work in an office.
(Well, maybe if I was starving and had no other options), but I don't
think I have any phobio, unless it's to idiots.

On another website someone has raised the topic to a bunch of divorced
women
of working at home. Someone has mentioned how MT is a great choice, and
that there are LOTS of sites that offer jobs. Just want to inject a
little
reality :-)

Working at home has never appealed to me. It would drive me nuts. Do
you think some people who insist on working at home have some type of
phobia? (serious question - please don't charge for your professional
opinion :-)
