((I walked out of one job. ))
During my working career, I've only walked out of two jobs. The first
was at noon time on my first day of work. It was in a paper box
factory where Christmas card boxes were being assembled in the heat of
July. It didn't take me long to learn I didn't have the temperament
for factory work.
The second time was during my try at restaurant work, this time as a
bus boy (or bus girl). I didn't mind the work, it was that stupid hair
net the manager made us all wear.
Barb, I tell a lie. I walked out three times. The first two were in
Boston, but I did it once in California during my data entry days. I'd
just got a job keypunching at Bechtel Corp., that big construction
company. Two days into the job, I was ready to leave after having to
listen to not one but three radios playing different loud music at the
same time at the machines of other employees. This was before I
discovered that wonderful invention, ear plugs.
