Re: Future of Medical Transcription

ROFL. Yeah, no fun that - with Famvir, etc.

Wow. It seems ironic to lecture an Indian about Karma. . . but I hope you know you're coming back as a herpes virus next time around. Good luck with that.

That's why you're telling me what to do? And what's with this country
bias? Are you a loser denial or something? You do sound like one.
Wake up old woman and smell the coffee. If work is going outside of
your country, its not because someone out there has decided to get you
and your bread and butter - instead that happens because of certain
economic dictums. Cry as much as you can. All right. These realities
exist. Learn to live with them. Like you'll have to learn to live
with a powerful SR in a few years.

I came here to discuss the future of MT. I have been an MT in India
for 7 years. Its been my work, my bread and butter for 7 years. I am
worried about its future. Its a dying industry. I wanna change to
some other field before I get carpal tunnel or something or before I am
too old to move my chair and go take a piss. When MT started in India
(and hold your breath) some 15 years ago, we did not decide for that to
happen. Somebody else did, could be anybody. Who cares? But it was
somebody who calls the shots. Not someone who sits in front of the
Intel-Inside Stupid-Outside box and types for doctors all day and then
shouts at the "unknown foreign MTs" scared *** of them.

So dont give me "your country" mama. You'll start stepping on my
nerves. I got enough worries here myself. Frankly, in India no one's
proud of being an MT. There is not enough money either. I am worried,
cuz I got bills to pay. And I work hard. Dont you dare think its easy
money here. Come and work with me and you'll know what I am trying to
say. Working on a slow and dying internet connection, in sweltering
heat, typing or editing reports for a lousy dictator who dictates
sitting on a commode, its not the ideal Indian dream come true. But
still this dirty job is my work. And I do it. I did not ask for
favors. I did not beg. I work. Just like you guys do. I dont have a
country bias. I love my country. And I love the world. But sometimes
you guys really do get on my nerves when you talk so despicably about
us.

Listen mamma, you'll have enough work always. MTs from India,
Philippines, Pakistan or wherever will only make your life easier.
Accept the reality and start typing. There are enough patients.
You'll be going to a doctor soon yourself. Let me tell you an inside
secret. There are not enough candidates in India for this work.
People dont wanna come to this industry. Look at me, I have decided to
leave already. When you guys get your "acne" treated by a State
educated Indian doctor there, you dont think about the millions that
were wasted on that guy by the government do you? And the scumbag
leaves for US before he can do anything for his own country.

Yeah, privacy of medical records. God this really brings me to
hysteric laughs sometimes. I guess if your immediate neighbor does not
get to know that you got nasty hemorrhoids and crabs and use
preparation H everday but someone sitting thousands of miles away does,
its only good for your self esteem. Isn't it? In 15 years, not a
single "third world scumbag" came up with an idea of stealing patient
info or identity, I wonder if its going to happen now. Hell, I am not
interested.

Come to India mama. Be my guest. You'll find a home away from home
here. And get real. I do bite. Bhow!!

Finally, excuse my way of talking. I didn't mean to talk all that. l
just am worried. Wanna know how long can I work. I only want it to
last for 2 or 3 years thats all.

Thanks for your hospitality.

Speech recognition is undergoing a paradigm shift. Earliers things
were different. Just 5 years ago, now there are SR engines that create
a draft of the dictation that gets better and better with time. They
call it neural technology. Comments anyone? And since I want to
discuss, I'd rather request you guys to talk a bit more elaborately.

You want to discuss it because you want to decide if you should become
an MT? Invest in SR company? Set up a front office in the US to seek
more business?

It may be acceptable to tell people how to post in your country, but it
is considered very poor taste and improper here. I am sure there are
several consultants here who may offer their opinion if you are willing
to pay for it.
