Re: Air travel carry on restrictions - what's next?

Oh, and we aren't going to let the terrorist change our way of life.
Bullshoes! They already have! Because of 9/11 Georgie feels carte blanche
to rape the constitution, our civil liberties all in the name of protection.
Yet our borders are wide open! Our ports are wide open! The baggage is
never screened in the cargo holds (that's how they really will get the
planes). They are not even beginning to protect us in the simplest of ways.
They are still seeing as many guns, knives and weapons as they did before
9/11. No change! They just want more control over us and to change our
freedom and that is exactly what is happening. No more protection, just
less freedom. Protection, my blooming arse!

To restrict computers in this country would really hurt business. They
will
have to work something out. Perhaps carryons will be collected as you
board
and stored in a safe place in the cabin compartment, and you may pick them
up when you leave. The reaction today is just extreme because of the
announcements. Things quieted down eventually after 9/11, and they will
quiet down now, though there will undoubtedly be new restrictions.
Someone
commented that eventually we'd all have to fly naked! The flight
restrictions hurt a lot of people--business, the airlines, the travel
business, resorts. The economy cannot take that and ways will have to be
worked out that will not be excessively restrictive but still allow
reasonable safety. At this point in my life I do not have to
fly--although
I certainly would prefer to once or twice a year, but if it is too much of
a
hassle I won't. I'm sure there are a lot of others like me.

Thankfully AA says nothing about restricting computers today, (to
Belize)
but I also think that is coming. Lots of people will be up a creek, so
to
speak, if that happens.

I'll be at the airport about 3-1/2 hours early today, so I hope that's
adequate. I'm so glad I upgraded to first class with miles so that I can
comfortable sit in AAs "Ambassador Room" at the airports.

See ya'll when I get back, unless I have time to read and post through
Google, which I hate.

Thanks for the good wishes for safe travel (in another thread).

I envision a lot more people driving due to more carry-on
restrictions. I don't necessarily want to be able to use my computer
on an airplane, but it's an expensive piece of equipment and I don't
want to leave it to the luggage handlers, either.

And since most car keys contain an electronic device nowadays, what
are we supposed to do with them once we get to the airport? Put them
in our luggage and check them through?
