Re: info on AAMT program approval

Seems like the content should be evaluated - not the credentials of the person writing the content. Who cares if they haven't graduated from high school even if they put together an adequate course and what difference does the CMT make if the content is crap.

Go to AAMT' site and have a look. It was interesting reading who was in on this. Apparently, any instructor or person who designs the program of any portion of a curriculum related to transcription MUST have a CMT after their name. Based on the total number of CMTs, this totally limits even most legitimate institutions from even applying for approval by AAMT. In our area, even a well respected community college would not have a CMT on staff.

Maybe someone from Philly would know this answer. Is there anyone at Temple Univ with a CMT instructing the 4-year coding classes? Those graduates with a B.S. are then department heads overseeing both coding and transcription at large facilities, but I'm assuming that Temple would not even be approved by AAMT. Not that Temple U would even know who AAMT was or care about having their program approved.

Case closed.
