I had a friend that took it and it caused her to eat in her sleep. She
would wake up with food in her mouth (a partially eaten sandwich, or
crackers) with no memory of getting up and going into the kitchen and making
a sandwich or getting anything to eat. It's a wonder she never choked to
death! No thanks!

Yep, it's the funky sleeping pill. Every single person I've spoken to
that takes it has some pretty psychdelic side effects if they don't go
to sleep immediately. It's kind of tricky, because it kicks in very
quickly (about 10 minutes).
(Oddly, though, drowsiness isn't one of the side effects that I get
unless I put my head on the pillow.)
I did hear further elaboration that the patient sleepwalks when she
takes Ambien, which makes a lot more sense. But unforuntatey, that's
not what's going on her note.
