Re: Steve Irwin RIP

No, she didn't. Wish that were the truth. The kid was antagonizing the dog. I think at some point actually the dog did snap at her - though I wasn't there. My GSD has a play growl. My SIL is a lovely person, but she has very poor judgment about some things. Another time her 6 y/o was in the stall with a horse. It was a nice horse and calm, but no small child is safe in a stall with a loose horse. One loud noise and the kid could be trampled in a heartbeat. She thought the kid was just fine in there.

Maybe ill advised, but how many people allow their small babies around big dogs (well behaved or otheriwse) for example. Probably a lot higher risk there. My SIL used to sit there and allow her small child in face o the German shepherd that was growling in the kid's face.

My dog wouldn't hurt a fly - intentionally. I always stay with a child when they're playing with her just in case. It's good for the dog and good for the kid to learn how to behave around a big dog. She's a kitten at heart, but outside and to all who see her, she's a German Shepherd. She's not mean ever, but she sure looks like she could be. Kids need to learn what they can and cannot do with an animal. Our dog has a play "growl" and a real one. Maybe your SIL knew the difference.
