Becky,
At no time have I ever defended Ed's actions, then or now. In fact, if you
go back through the archives to that whole scene, you'll see where I raised
the roof and lowered the boom on him. I didn't mince words. As Rae said,
many forgave and/or forgot, but I was not one of them. After I had my say, I
believe I stopped posting here for quite some time. Nobody forced me out,
least of all Ed.. It was my choice to stop posting (and reading the
messages, too, for that matter). I'm not laying that responsibility at
anyone else's feet. *I* made the choice to go (my income went up, that's for
certain).
And I don't see where now there is anything that Ed said yesterday that
needs to be defended, since Ed hasn't said anything that warrants defending,
from me or anyone else. All he ever said was the reason why he posted at
this time (his name was mentioned) ... he said to stop responding to the
troll and eventually they'll go away (absolutely true) ... and, from my
perspective, he feels this newsgroup is not as good as it once was. At this
time he did not say anything mean or hurtful, and *that* is what I responded
to. What he said NOW (not several years ago).
And not everyone who has left this group has done so because of trolls. I've
seen innocent people get drawn and quartered by some of those members "in
high standing with the community." This place has often reeked of utter
bitchery, for reasons that are completely unjustified.
Rehashing the past will do nothing more than open old wounds. There is
nothing to be gained.
It took me long enough to learn that lesson.

Jeannie,I hate to see you defend somebody who was just blackhearted mean. Yes,
Ed is no more responsible for anyone quitting this group than
McDonald's is
responsible for anyone who eats there gaining weight. Nobody forces
anybody
to read anyone's messages. All anyone had to do is block the offensive
poster and ignore the topic of conversation. It's that simple.
And I don't see where Ed is condemning anyone from posting to a troll.
All
he said, as others have said before him, including myself, is if people
stopped responding to "the troll," eventually they'll go away.

It is really sad to see what scimed has become!
and what part did you, MTQueen2002, have in the demise of SMT? How
good people quit posting here after what you did? To sit there andcondemn
others for posting to a troll, when you admittedly were one yourselffor
months is rich, Ed.front

his trolling ran people off, because it's the choice of most people not
to want to associate with a social anomaly like a person who hurts for
the pleasure he gets from hurting. That's not the way real people are
built. That's somebody with a screw loose. It's supposed to be in our
nature to help, not deliberately hurt.
It's up to you - I'm not attempting to tell you what to do. I'm just
telling you that yes, a troll can rot a group from the inside out. It
makes people go elsewhere.
