Jeannie, we do have victim/witness coordinators that do a lot of what
you described at the beginning of your post. So you might not have to
invent yourself a job after all!
YAHOO!! Maybe I will have to look into that. The other day there was a
home invasion a few miles from here and the two people who "happened to
stop by for a visit" were shot inside, one was drug outside while begging
not to be shot again and he was killed in the front yard and the other was
shot 3 times and managed to get himself over to the fire department that
was a few doors down. Anyway, the woman inside was duct taped, gagged and
tied and even after the police and ambulance got there, nobody really knew
that there was another victim. They finally heard her muffled cries and
her doing her best to kick the wall and they found her in the home. They
untied her, etc. and then put her in the police car and just left her there
while they went on with the investigation. We were in the area and got the
road about the time the police were blocking it off, so being nosy I looked
to see what all the commotion was. I saw them putting the victim in the
car and then left her there. She was a bit old and obviously shaken and
was just sitting there by herself sobbing and the area was taped off as a
crime scene so nobody in her family or witnesses could go over to comfort
her. All I wanted to do was go and just be with her so she wouldn't be
alone and comfort her. It really broke my heart for her. We ended up
leaving once the roads were not blocked off and the murderers had been
involved in a high speed chase that resulted in a crash and they were all
caught but the whole time I was there, nobody was with that poor lady.
