Re: seeking information

It was in the The Blade Toledo's only daily newspaper, on Friday, September
29, 2006, Section A, page 3. I think you can just google the name and town
of the newspaper and get it that way. Sorry I don't have a URL for it.

I hope you'll let us know what they work out. For many here this is a
theoretical debate as they haven't been in the situation of your friend,
but for your friend it is very real and very pressing, otherwise they
wouldn't be seeking help.

With parents in their 80s it means their children might be in their late 50s
or early 60s, and having to finance their own health issues and plan for
their elderly years so this is not repeated for their children.

With the price of cigarettes, he'd probably be able to get his car fixed if
he gave them up.

Is there a web site where I can access that article? I'd like to read the
whole thing.

And, yes, I agree that the thread is going in a direction that I never
intended, and I'm sorry for contributing to it. I just wanted help with
finding resources.

But I will say this ... I feel that taking care of your elderly parents
is, and should remain, a personal decision (just like abortion) and not
become a legal obligation.

Others might disagree.

When reading today's newspaper, I happened across an article
entitled, "Care-giving crisis looms for the elderly" and it spoke to the
issue your friend is embroiled in.
