Re: very sad... good vibes needed

I know. I'm sure Mandy is torturing herself right now for not insisting on a
chest x-ray 5 months ago. But, she did what she could, and her doctor failed
to hear her. And perhaps the outcome would have been the same, but still...
all those months of suffering.

Oh, my God, Kathy this is so sad. I'm so angry about her doctor. To tell
this mother everything was okay is outrageous.

More bad news tonight. Both lungs are involved, and they can't get her
oxygen sat above 50. MRI of brain in the a.m., and they're not sure they
can
even operate now.

Oh, this just makes you sick. I can see a new mother not knowing what
is
expected, but with these clinical findings and a mother saying
SOMETHING
IS WRONG.... Horrible. Babies do not have blue lips for now reason.

No good news about Loran. The surgery didn't happen this morning
because
her CAT scan showed more problems. She is having a brain and liver MRI
today, and possible surgery tomorrow when they can gather the
necessary
surgical team.

Her oxygen sats are in the 60s max, sometimes lower. They transfused
her
and still not better. Her lungs just can't oxygenate enough blood. It
is
assumed that her oxygen sats have been like this for months, and there
might be brain damage.

So sad that her mother has taken her to the pediatrician numerous
times
in the last six months, telling him there was something wrong. All
they
ever did was pat her on the head and say everything was fine. There
were
obvious signs to even those of us who saw her infrequently that there
was
something wrong (blue lips, blue fingers and toes, lack of muscle
tone,
lack of growth). I mean, this baby that was born at the 90th
percentile
in size, went to the 20th percentile in 6 months and her pediatrician
didn't even question that???? He just kept saying she was "small
boned".
I'm just so sad for them I can hardly stand it.
