Like I said, though, the instructions in her book don't cover 2003 (at least not in my book) and the Win XP Professional has different folder names and when I try to copy the *.acl and the normal.dot and the dictionary file over from a folder of one name on the previous computer to overwrite the one in a different file name on the other computer, it doesn't work. I successfully moved it to my laptop and to my Windows 2000 Professional computer but not on my Windows XP professional computer, which is where I need it. I have used her book faithfully and successfully for many years.

Jeannie,

Word 2003 and Win XP work the same as previous versions. You just need to paste the files to the correct folder. (If you are using Word 97 and transferring the AutoCorrect file to a newer version, you need to rename the .acl file to match the file name in the newer version.)

How are you transferring the files? If you are using a CD, files are automatically set to read only when you copy to CD, then you need to change that attribute after the transfer so Word can read them. Right-click the file, select Properties, then clear the Read-only attribute.
