You must not have lived out in the country where someone might not come by
to help. I once had a man stop and WATCH me change the tire--and gave me
bad advice to boot! My dad would not let me take the car until I could
change the tire!

((Haven't you ever changed a flat tire? Lucky you))
Never, Barbara. I learned early on that being a woman gets me out of
this type of job since men seem to like helping. I've only had a few
flat tires since I got my first of three cars back in 1974.
The first time, when my little Fiat got a flat one evening, a couple
men in a pickup truck stopped and did the job for me. After that, AAA
always comes and changes flats for me. That's why I pay them for
roadside service.
