I think in this case, I'd get a lawyer and see what I could do about

Mom wouldn't have that. As far back as I can remember, she's always stated:
"Ain't *nobody* the boss of me!" My brother has been looking for a house of
his own, and I do think Mom's finally thinking of moving in with them when
they finally find one.

If your mother is shown to be in danger from which she, nor her
housemates, are able/willing to protect herself, I think it can be done.

I think they're willing; they just can't--without a gun (and neither of them
would be good candidates to carry a gun, so that's out). My nephew's bigger
and meaner than they are. He runs with a gang that people fear (for good
reason). It doesn't help that the jerk's sister and mom (my sister) live
there too. To say this has caused a family split is putting it mildly.

Sandi will probably chop my head off because I'm probably wrong, but
there must be a way to do this--and a lawyer could tell you for certain.

Legal or not, Mom wouldn't have it. She may be old, but she's mean and
aggravating. In this case, it's true: "If Mama ain't happy, NOBODY'S
happy!"

In any case, I think this has gone beyond a DIY situation and you need
real help. In for a penny, in for a pound, I always say.

Well, I've gathered the addresses on the possible hideouts, so that's about
all I can do, for now, except be there for moral support. I'm relieved to
know that Mom isn't dropping pursuing the more permanent restraining order.
My nephew is a walking time bomb, and you never know what or who will set
him off.

This is what happens when you don't raise your kids. They sure don't raise
themselves!
