I hate it on both ends of the spectrum, when either the word "liberal" or "conservative" is made to sound as though beneath contempt. Good grief, don't most of us fall on the conservative side on some issues and the liberal side on others? I can understand heated discussions and debates over individual issues, but generalizing a big group of people under one lump term always rubs me the wrong way..

When the room is large enough, okay. That's not always the case.
As far as the grandchildren are concerned, considering that they range in age from 2 to 6 1/2, I think they might be a bit young for a political discussion. However, subliminally they ARE being fed this right wing conservative jargon, so I won't be surprised if one day they think that "liberal" is a dirty word. And that's sad.
