I took one of my girl dogs to the emergency vet one evening when I lived
down in Hampton Roads. While waiting, someone brought in a deer that had
been hit by a car and the deer was sitting in the chair next to us and it
was crying. It broke my heart.
It broke my heart more after the vet decided that he had to put the deer
down. I had petted the deer on the head. I knew they cried and i knew they
hurt.
I forget what it was I saw on TV the other day, but it was some kind of
animal that was being killed for food and the animal was bludgeoned to
death. It showed it and they stabbed it and it screamed and I absolutely
cried. If that's the way they kill some of the animals, I want no part of
eating again. I'll drink water and eat crackers.
Like anyone else, I can go to the store and buy what I want, but I want no
part in killing it.

I heard an awful call on the police scanner. It was about midnight.there
Shots fired and a female subject screaming. They went tearing out
and the person who called said there was a big pickup truck acrossthe
road. The people had shot a deer (illegal). The screams were the deer
screaming. :( That probably has scarred me forever.
Wow - never heard that at all.

they did that! It's called "bleating" and I guess that makes sense, it
is a bleat. It's a sound I've heard all my 30 years on this place and
didn't know what it was till a doe I was watching in the field turned
her nose up in the air and did it.
