I don't know about this recorder, but I have bought a couple of
"refurbished" Olympus Recorders from Heartland in the $30 - $40 price range
that have been just fine.

When looking at recorders, however, don't take the length of recording time
seriously because that is in the most condensed mode with lousy quality
sound. I do not know of any of the digital recorders--even the more
expensive ones, that will let you back up and record, though my clients have
learned to deal with it. I have had very good luck with the Olympus
recorders and even the "cheap" ones have given no trouble. The less
expensive ones have shorter recording times, but my one client who
occasionally goes over the limit preferred to buy a second inexpensive
recorder rather than put a lot of money into a high-priced one. I make sure
I warn my clients that only the expensive ones may have removable media and
if the recorder fails, they will lose what is on it, but in 2 years now none
have failed.
