I believe in court an atheist may just simply say, "I affirm" and not swear
on the Bible. While I have read the Bible and find it an interesting
history, my word is what is important. To a Muslin using the Koran (which
I have also read) would have far more meaning.

Interestingly, in the short time I've been in court, it seems that some of
the fundamentalist Christians have been the only ones I've seen make a point
of saying "I affirm" rather than "I swear."
