Don't get me started on our mail service. First we're lucky if anybody can
understand or speak English down there.
A couple of weeks ago I mailed some important papers to my BIL in Central
Florida. The address was completely correct, except I had transposed 2
numbers in the zip code, and they returned it "no such address". If I had
left the zip off it probably would have been delivered.
With so much mail now by e-mail, and checks (which used to be my highest
postage use) electronically transferred I want to know why the number of
employees at our post office have increased! It may cost more per item to
send less, but it doesn't take more people to handle it!

they are all bad with late payments and increased fees. We sometimes haveI too have switched almost exclusively to online banking for bill
problems with mail and do not receive bills. I keep a *** in my check
register giving me the dates all my cards and bills are due. I pay
electronically about 10 days before that date whether I have received the
bill or not. You really get stung if you are so much as a day (sometimes
I
think an hour) overdue, It only pays to take advantage of offers if you
are
very careful not to screw up with the payments. They are counting on you
to
miss because they don't make money on people who don't. My electronic
payment guarantees payment within 2 days of all the major accounts, 5 days
with the personal ones. They have gone to bat for me a couple of times
when
they did not meet this, though I have been using this method of paying for
about 3 years now--it is free at the bank, and it saves postage, and
eliminates the risk of the Post Office screwing up on delivery.

paying, Barb. Like you said, it's free and fast. I'm absolutely amazed
that snail mail is becoming less and less reliabile while the cost
continues upward. I used to take my personal mail (stamped) to the
office to be picked up with my office metered mail, but no more--many
of my checks took 7-10 days to go across town, and some never arrived
at all!
I recently rec'd a hospital refund check for my stay in May for a
kidney stone. It was dated July 26th, well past the 60 days I had to
cash it. Should I be grateful the post office didn't charge me
storage, or what?! <GG>
