Then charge him and try him - as per the law of the land. I don't like seeing crooks get off easy, but when the govt decides they can just hold people for any time they want, refuse them to see an attorney, etc., it is very scary. They law has been known to make mistakes, innocent - yes completely innocent - people have been jailed for crimes they did not commit. We can't suspend anyone's rights w/o suspending all of our rights.

I'm almost starting to be ashamed to call myself an American. I just was reading on-line news about this Jose Padillo held for months and months w/o any charges as an enemy combatant. Sensory deprivation, isolation, just horrible - and he had not been charged with anything for something on the order of two years. I don't know what evidence they have on him, but if they had some why didn't they just charge him? One wrong word from the wrong person, this could be any one of us or at least any one of anybody who is Muslim.

Then I saw a piece yesterday on a DC area DJ who did a little hoax on the radio the other day. Made remarks that all Muslims should be marked prominently to be identified. His phone lines jammed with calls, a good percentage of which thought this was a good idea. A GOOD IDEA - this is exactly what the Nazis did to the Jews.

And then we have the bruhaha over a Muslim wanting to take an oath on his sacred book. We have "good Christians" (yeah right) saying he should only swear it on the Bible. That would be blasphemy from both sides I would think.

WIth this attitude, we're going to be a nation with no freedom at all. Terrifying and disgusting.
