Re: Noob reintroduction

Kathy,

It was funny when I took her to the zoo for Zoo Nights where it was open at
night with booths to do trick or treating, ride the haunted train, go
backwards on the carosel, moond bounce and such. She is such a cutey and
stopped in front of every speaker to dance to the music...she once had a
crowd of about 30 people stopped to watch her dance to "Witchy Woman"!

It is funny because it seems more guys will talk to me when she is with me
than when I'm alone, but she usually goes up to strangers and says something
like "I love blue skies...do yo0UU?" so people have no choice but to notice
her. It IS getting harder to play games on the floor than it was a few
years ago...glad bean bags are still in fashion!

It sounds like you have a lot on your plate, and you're doing the best you
can. Good luck to you. If it's any consolation there are many moms in
their 40s today... so you're not completely out of synch. (Now if I, at
almost fifty<cough> years old was given a grandchild to raise that'd be
'not normal' at all) LOL

Well, I'm taking the plunge and reintroducing myself formally to the
group. I've been off and on here since 1995, seen a lot of people come
and go, watched some major feline fights, watched friendships develop and
fall apart, and saw people who made a real impact on me leave for various
reasons.

Hi, My name is Carol and I've been an MT - from home for 10 years, in
offices/hospitals 5 years before that. I had my coding certification a
few years ago and enjoyed auditing clinic records and educating
physicians to improve documentation and reimbursement. I even took a
break from MT to get my pharmacy certification, but hated rotating
shifts, being on call, meeting production - at least with MT, I didn't
have to dress up to do all of that! I've been in the medical arena since
1984 in some fashion or another.

I've moved about 9 times since 1996 - if it didn't fit in the car, I
didn't own it. I've finally settled down and have decided to reenter the
group for a couple of reasons. I miss the banter and personalities here
and I had been a hermit for way too long due to being in a relationship
with a true narcissistic control stalker freak. I need to rebuild some
relationships with a-d-u-l-t-s (some present company excluded :}~
Actually I need some help with learning how to interact with adults again
<G>.

Another reason is that I have had to become an IC again, giving up
benefits because I had a life change this year. My now 3 yo
granddaughter was (literally) dropped off on my door one day with only a
half full pillowcase of clothes as my daughter couldn't be mommy any
more. I really need some support because there is a lot of stress from
this situation. This is THE best kid God ever made - From birth has been
a glass-half-full child, is polite and thoughtful, full of laughter and
love. But even for her, having suddenly lost everyone else in her life
who said they loved her has been hard on her - and hard on me in a
2-layered way. First, I have to deal with the parents and extended
family who suddenly became too busy to be involved in her life, but
secondly I've become entrapped in a system that is a never-ending hassle
of appointments, therapy sessions, court dates, getting her into a
daycare to develop nonexistent social skills, helping her build her
immune system (oy vey!)... I didn't expect that in my mid-40s and single
that I'd be a mommy again! I have forgotten how to even potty train
properly!

Tomorrow I go to court to get a child support order against my daughter.
I'm in the process of getting DNA results on the dad so I can do the same
with him.

The one thing over all these years I could count on was the way I feel
about transcription and the flexibility and income potential it has...but
we all know today's reality and where the industry is headed, so that is
another challenge to integrate into my life.

So, now I'm not a noob anymore and any paranoid ideas of my "real"
personality can be put to rest :)
