Re: Secure File Deletion Programs

Well, Dell didn't have anything to recommend and did say that if you
don't pay for one, then you have no way of knowing whether or not it
worked, and by paying for one, you at least have something to sort of
fall back on. lol. They did say that I could tell the tech that I need
to keep the old drive for a couple of days to erase it, but how do I do
that if it is removed already?

They made it sound like he might give me some flack and then gave me a
number to call should he show up say tomorrow before I get something
downloaded, but in looking up programs, I am liking the Pinion Software
Sanitizer series so far. I have a call into them also to see how user
friendly it will be for me and which version they would recommend for
my situation before I purchase it.

Thanks guys. I'll check out the link. I think I'll call Dell to see if
they have any recommendations too. The guy I spoke with from AOL the
other day said "Hey, nobody said what type of damage had to be done
prior to the return; there are always things like hammers and
microwaves. " lol

If you go to Harrie's Productivity forum you will probably find all
sorts of recommendations and options.

This is the place we usually send folks to who ask questions like this
at MT Desk ... we sort of view the MTs who post at Harrie's as the most
knowledgeable around when it comes to issues like this, if they can't
give you the answer to something like this just about nobody can :)

Here is the url ? ?http://www.productivitytalk.com/forums/index.php

Let us know what you end up doing :)

Any recommendations? I have until Tuesday or Wednesday, and I'm
shooting for Tuesday, to securely delete all files off of two parallel
partitions (don't know the lingo) before my new hard drive appears. I'm
pretty sure Dell is going to want this hard drive back after sending
the new one since that is how they handled a sound card replacement.- Hide quoted text -- Show quoted text -- Hide quoted text -- Show quoted text -
