Horseracing, dog racing, etc., should all be banned,

A lot of the horse board people think this was just wonderful what
they did for this horse and expect the outcry against racing. I'm a bit
on the fence. I know TBs love to run. I think trying to make an animal
well is admirable within reason, though by no means could the average
horse owner come close to affording that kind of treatment. His break
was bad and horses must have their legs and feet to survive. I believe
the unnatural stress to the other foot caused laminitis there - very
serious for a horse - just adding insult to injury. I've seen where
they have fabricated prothesthic leg for a horse somewhere, though that
may have rendered him incapable of standing to breed a mare. If he
wasn't a thoroughbred that might not be such a big deal as they can use
insemination, but the Jockey Club requires live cover, i.e., mating as
the Good Lord intended, to recognize the foals.

HOpefully they learned something that may help another horse in the
future.
