Neal is a new grandpa

I finally got to see my new granddaughter this afternoon! I have had a very bad cold, so thought it best to stay away from new baby and new mother.

Savannah Marie Gleason was born to Kristin and Ron last Friday morning, January 26, around 2:20 am. She was born at their home by natural childbirth, attended by two midwives, Ron, and my younger daughter, Sarah. Kristin worked hard to deliver this 8 pound 12 ounce little girl who was 20 inches long. She has a bunch of very dark brown hair.

Martha has been over to Kristin's house every day, using superlatives like gorgeous, beautiful, and stuff like that to describe the baby. I asked her what she did all morning over there the day after Savannah was born, and she said she sat and held her and stared at her!

When I first saw her today, I had to agree -- she is a beautiful baby!
