Re: Prayers to those of you in the south today

I just got back in from running errands - made the decision to do this
*after* I heard the tornado sirens (I've been in Bama waaaay too long!). It
seems the area where I live was in a lull, but areas north and south were
reporting funnels, some within 15 miles of me (whilst I drove up and down
the interstates with the rug rat in the back seat).

Everything was closed. Birmingham closed early (that sounds just plain
wrong, doesn't it?), so there was no traffic. I don't have television
anymore, so I had no clue it was as bad as it was. We finally found a
pizzeria a few blocks from my apartment and watched TV there. They had
up-close video feed of the Enterprise High School. It was destroyed.
People were lying all over the place. Helicopters flying low past trees
that were sheared off half way up the trunks. The Red Cross sent 300 units
of blood to that area within an hour of the event. Other parts of the state
were reporting casualties and east Alabama and some of south Alabama was
expecting a second storm wall.

I haven't turned on my heater in over a week. We were due some a tornado or
two. I still don't get excited about them until I see scenes like the high
school. It was an awful scene.

YIKES! I haven't watched TV all day long. My SIL lives in Enterprise
and her DH is deployed. I better give her a call to see how she is.

Okay, just checked on her. She is okay. Saw it out her back door. It
touched down just a few blocks from her. A lady who goes to our old
church
has family there too and one of them works at the school that got it.
Fortunately, she is okay, as is the rest of her family. They said it is
really bad, though. They cannot drive to the school. Have to park and
walk a good ways due to damage.
