only thing is it has the 500ish RAM instead of the 4 GB required torun
it optimally. This really pisses me off. Make the end userresponsible
for understanding all the technology and if they can't, blame them.

Ummmmm, the end user *should* be responsible for knowing enough about
the
technology to know what their needs are and what they need to buy to
fill
those needs.
Buying a computer isn't like buying a toaster. Computers and computing
are
highly technical things. Buyers need to be educated or to ask someone
who
is educated to help them with their purchase.
I guess Microsoft should hold free classes in every community in the
world
and make it mandatatory that everyone attend so they won't sue them
when
they buy the wrong pc.
ed
for anything but internet and email, personal stuff. Then there are
those that use them to produce a work product, people like MTs. I used
to have a better understanding of the systems than I do now. Now, it is
all completely Greek. But, I liken it to anything else you purchase or
service you use. To expect the average user to not understand that
"Vista Compatible" might not mean that exactly is not fair or right. IF
you applied this idea people need to understand or do "homework" before
everything they need to accomplish in life, we'd all have to be experts
in everything. If I hire an electrician, plumber, builder, etc., I need
to try to make sure they know what they are doing, but to be sure I'd
have to go to school for all those things in order to read the plans,
understand what proper wiring or plumbing code is. Just because you
personally understand this technology does not mean it comes easily to
everyone else. If I see "minimum requirements" being burned or seeing
others burned has taught me that you should not buy a computer with the
minimum requirements to run a given program. It will run - but slower
than molasses. It is not reasonable to expect everyone buying a
computer for themselves or as a gift is going to know that, anymore
than it is to expect the average person buying a construction package
to realize that the minimum standards allowed by law may result in
problems down the line. Just have to ask the wrong "expert" once to
have that happen.
This especially disgusts me when it is a multibillion dollar company
already carrying the reputation of less-than above-board business
practices. Like your friend's husband, most people are clueness about
this apparently - sad as that is.
I"m good at what I do, but in order to live I have to rely on
"experts", whether that expert is a doctor for myself, a vet for my
animals, or a tradesmen. If I trust the "pros" is it then my fault if I
take their advice and it causes me or someone else harm?
I do not think it is unreasonable to expect that labelling should be
honest and clear. Cripes, we have labels on Batman capes that say it
won't allow you to fly - stating the obvious to anyone but a total
imbecile.
Yeah, I hate Microsoft - but it's not because they're big business.
It's because they put out an inferior product we are basically forced
to use if we want to work, and they seem to get away with it.
