If your doc used any of the above voice file types when he recorded his
dictations in Express Dictate, then you can copy and play the voice
files using your Express Scribe.
But why would he copy his dictation into a CD and mail it to you?????
It seems redundant, time-consuming, might be delayed or might get lost
in the mail.
The simplest, safest, and fastest way is to transmit the voice files to
your FTP or other free internet delivery systems.
he has a desktop PC (windows). He uses an Olympus and emails me the
files. Now and then he travels to another home in another state and
takes his Mac laptop. The Olympus model he has does not have software
compatible with his newer Mac operating system (I put hi in touch with
Transcription Gear and that is what he found out). SO, he got Express
Dictate, which allows him to dictate directly to his computer. Not sure
what that file format is but it plays on Express Scribe. The Express
Dictate voice files are not as compressed as Olympus, therefore only a
few minutes will be way too large to email.
These are not reports that are generally needed stat. They are IMEs or
Medical File Reviews. I would presume (and if we go this way) I'll make
sure he keeps the copy on his computer until I have the files
transcribed.
So, considering the file format is correct, there is no reason the
files can't be loaded right into Express Scribe and played, right?
As stated, someone has offered me use of their FTP. Now the problem is
getting the doc a Mac compatible FTP and setting it up.
