I knew with my 3rd/current pregnancy at 5 wks. The dead giveaway-- "morning" sickness. (mine was at night.)
With my oldest, I was pretty sure by the time I was expecting a period that didn't come because I was SOOOOO sick -- I used to love peppermint tea and getting the first whiff of a new box used to be an ecstatic experience. I had already been feeling slightly queasy for a week or so plus had felt like I was sleeping on two bricks at night (very unusual for me) and was wondering, but the day I opened that brand-new box of peppermint tea, took a deep whiff, and then immediately had to throw up in my trash can (this was at work), I *knew*.
And I haven't been able to handle peppermint smell ever since. *sigh*
