Re: Nonmedical transcription

Just a thought . . . You might want to stick this up over on
Dani's LT-MT-GT board on Google.

I have received a call for some nonmedical transcription work.
It
"looks" easy 'nuf. It is transcribing focus group comments
dictated
by a focus group leader. The format is a 2-column table and
the Item
#s go in column #1 with the Job Class and comments in colum #2.
The
voice files will come over in a .wma format. There is a 1-week
TAT.
Can't share how many lines a single recording can produce or
how long
it takes to transcribe one approximately because I haven't done
one
yet myself. They can't even tell me how many dictators I may
receive
from week to week for the next month, but they plan to send at
least
one dictator today. They just sound panicked and may be trying
to
ensure they have extra hands that may not be needed, but at any
rate,
if anyone is interested in earning extra money and giving it a
go when
the work is available, please contact me. The MT that has done
this
type of work in the past shared that they are not too picky, if
they
curse, you transcribe it, you make the best guess you can in
reference
to company-specific terms, etc. It would look something like
this
(except in a table format): (and hopefully this works)

Item # Description

3 A staff engineer said, Everyday safety
is #1.
If we are not
focused on safety, people are worried.

A staff engineer said, We need more
formal
criteria for
assigning a priority.

5 A staff engineer said, We do have
people that
are role
models. They always preach safety and
always
wear their
PPE.
