I'm in love with your horse. :) People are breeding thoroughbreds with
Belgians and other draft horses because of their nice strong bones.
I've
actually never met a Belgian that I didn't love. My daughter doesn't
like any of those (for jumping) or the big warmbloods - she calls them
"dumb-bloods" but that's JUST my speed. :) I love a big old strong one
to ride. My last mount (not at home) was Bartok, a 17-2 Canadian
warmblood, and I was accused of loving him more than I loved my
children. :)

Thanks for the compliments on our horse, Romeo. Everyone that meets him
falls in love with him instantly. We are on the search for another
Belgian or Belgian cross. The lady that runs the stables as a North
Swedish Draft and she is very calm and relaxed and we LOVE her. The
horse we are getting next is an Arab cross (not sure with what now) and
he is WONDERFULLY sweet. Talk about DEAD BROKE. We were told that he is
an ex endurance horse and literally, the minute your *** hits the saddle
he is ready to go. I was lunging him the other day and he just wouldn't
stop. No whip needed, just clicked, kissed, etc. and he went right to
trot and canter. I ended up leaving the round pen and then he finally
stopped. Guess he had lots of built-up energy. LOL. The owner said
someone had jumped him up to 36 inches, so we will use him as an English
horse/jumper for Becker and he is GREAT on trails so he's just a good
all-around horse. Becker wants to learn to jump but Romeo just has that
"western pleasure look" to him and we are working him in that now.

Congratulations on your house.

Thanks! I cannot WAIT to finish it!!

As for home schooling. Whew. Well,
Melinda knows how the thought of that freaks me out. :D I'm keeping my
grandson for a few days while he recovers from strep and some kind of
weird thing on his feet (huge blisters) and he's about to drive me
crazy. :O

I would've never considered home schooling earlier. Becker was too wound
up and full of energy for me to contain to try to teach him stuff for any
reasonable length of time. I am really excited about it now and so is
he, so I think that with both of us wanting it so badly that it will work
out. He is very attentive and LOVES to learn and at 8 I think he is
ready for us to give it a shot. I am itching for the curriculum to come
in so we can get started - SO IS HE!
